Ja: 暑い夏の夜、蝉の声が庭に響く中、大きな家で何かが失われた。
En: On a hot summer night, as the sound of cicadas echoed in the garden, something was lost in a large house.
Ja: それは、家族の宝物。古い掛け軸だった。
En: It was the family's treasure—an old kakejiku.
Ja: 床の間にいつも掛けてあるその掛け軸は、何代にも渡って大切にされてきたものだった。
En: The scroll, which was always hung in the tokonoma, had been cherished across generations.
Ja: 遥は、その掛け軸がないことに最初に気づいた。
