Thanks for joining us on First State Kopites - it’s episode 2 of our 4th season. I’m Paul and I am joined by Justin, Daz and Haitham.
In part 1 we talk about expectations about how we will line up for 2022-23 season.
It’s less than 4 weeks to the season opener at Fulham. We’ll talk a lot about our expectations for the season in the next few weeks, we wanted to start with an actual listener question. How do you think we will line up?
- Gomez new contract - changes for the defense?
- The midfield - Chamberlain and Keita roles
- Attack - Núñez, Carvalho, Luis Diaz, Firmino
We’ll do more on expectations for the season as we get closer.
Part 2:
- Pre-season games - Man Utd and Palace coming up, then off to Austria
- Previous Asian tours… Sterling not willing to travel in 2015, monsoons in Hong Kong (and Coutinho fallout) in 2017.
- July 21st and 27th friendlies against the Red Bulls
- 3 weeks to the Community Shield
- First month is now set - early games and Monday afternoon?
Part 3 a round up of what’s happening elsewhere
- Incomings/outgoings elsewhere - what have you been impressed by and what looks less than impressive:
- Surprise, surprise, Barcelona seem central to so much of what’s going on.
- Women’s Euros - if you’ve watched what are your highlights?
- Holland - Sweden? Performance of France, Spain, Germany?
- Chris Kavanagh involved in the most doubtful refereeing of the tournament - shock horror. Why are male English referees even involved?
- Liverpool Women - some new contracts, Emma Koivisto - Finnish defender - joins.
- Sepp Blatter/Platini - innocent until proven guilty
We’ll be back next week after Liverpool have played their first 2 pre-season games. Thanks to Haitham, Daz and Justin.
