Welcome to the latest  edition of First State Kopites. It’s episode 31 of season 3 - a podcast for Liverpool supporters in Delaware and friends of those Liverpool supporters. Thanks for listening on your preferred platform, we are available on ALL of them (and on YouTube).

Joined by Daz and Sean this week to muse on the International Break and look ahead at 9 potential games in April.

After Liverpool labored at times in the FA Cup quarter final at Nottingham Forest. A Diogo Jota put us through to a semi-final against Manchester City on Easter weekend - which I mentioned only to highlight the FA’s ability to disregard the outside world when it comes to generating revenue.

In between we’ve had the international break:

  • Any highlights?  USA has (almost) qualified for the Qatar world cup

  • Lance Corporal America?

  • A Luis Diaz gem

  • How well is football working for the nation states?

  • Has all that money at the top ended of the game reduced our enjoyment?

Let’s take a look at the upcoming games:

  • Starts with Watford early Saturday and ends early at Newcastle

  • Benfica in the Quarter Final of the Champions League

  • City on successive weekends

  • United and Everton at home

  • Late April (if we beat Benfica) it could be Bayern at home on April 26th/27th

Risk factors:

  • Trent injury?

  • Other injuries and/or Covid

  • Squad rotation?

We’ll be back next week after the Watford game. Thanks to Daz and Sean - if you enjoyed the podcast, share it with a friend. Follow us on Twitter  - we only tweet and re-tweet from sources we think are credible.
