In this episode, Amanda Schneider and I share the harrowing experience of being sexually assaulted after the shame associated with it. She was at a conference, drugged, and subsequently raped at the age of 40.
After it happened, she decided to share her story and discovered that many people came forward and told her of having had that same experience. We talk about how shame is a by-product, and the importance of not letting shame win by bringing it to the light.
If you have ever had an incident of trauma like this, you will appreciate the conversation of how shame affects you and the cost of that.
Amanda shared that communicating about the incident and speaking to others not only made a difference in her healing, but helped others heal as well.
We also talk about the concept of resilience which is THE WAY to survive anything. If you can develop resilience, you are able to move through the challenges to live on purpose.
You will appreciate this courageous conversation.
