• Look for managers who are open to different ways of looking at things. Find people who support you to move up the ladder.
• Have a learner mindset by asking questions and looking for the bigger picture... it helps to broaden your horizons.
• You have to be inquisitive. Take the time to learn about people and their perspectives. 
• The higher the stress level, the more important it is to communicate and the more important it is to reach out.
• Really pause and take the time to connect and communicate.
