Not On Your Side- Jesus Juke

This is week 1 in our Series, Jesus Juke. When Jesus came to earth, He ended up being a lot different than what anyone thought. He was constantly saying and doing things that flipped the system on its head. In many ways, He wasn’t the savior that we all expected Him to be. Lucky for us, as time has gone on and we have advanced into the modern age we have figured out exactly why He said and did everything about His life that is recorded in Scripture. We now have a crystal-clear understanding of this man that we devote our lives to, right? Or maybe not. This week, our head pastor Chris Williams challenged us. Are we so set in our personal opinions that we assume God MUST be on our side, or are we willing to humbly except that he isn’t on anyones at all and what he really wants is our full surrender.

Discussion Questions:

1. In your opinion, who is the GOAT in performing the “juke” in football, basketball, soccer, or hockey?
2. When are you most tempted to try and get Jesus to be on your side? Relationships? Social issues? Politics? Theology? Ect…
3. Read Matthew 22:15-22 allowed. Is there anything Jesus said or did in this story that surprised you? Why or why not?
4. Pastor Chris suggested there are three ways to “bend our will to His word”. What were they? What is your plan to try each of these this week?

Covid-19 Precautions 

1. If you’re not feeling well, please wait to attend on campus until you’re fully healthy.
2. We have two on-campus Sunday services: 9:30 and 11am (Our 11:00am service is live online on our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel)
3. We provide kids ministry (birth – 5th grade) at 9:30am and kids and middle school (6th-8th grade) at our 11:00am service. High school ministry meets Sundays at 6:00pm on-campus.
4. We encourage facial coverings per the current state health order. We are minimizing some common touchpoints, providing hand sanitizer, and offering some increased spacing in seating areas.
