Conflict with Karen- Calm Down Karen

This week's message is the first of our new sermon series, “Calm Down Karen!” We all know a Karen... Someone who is ready to argue with anyone about anything at any time. Whether you like it or not, those people still need the love of Jesus. How do you deal with those people in a way that points them away from explosive anger and towards the love of Christ? This first week we talk about how to handle “Conflict with Karen”.

Discussion Questions

1. In your own words, what does the phrase, “Calm Down Karen” mean? Describe a “Calm Down Karen” moment you have observed in person or via social media. What were you thinking when you observed this moment?
2. Read aloud 1 Peter 3:8-11. What words or phrases in this text do you find the most challenging? Why?
3. What would it look like to give a "blessing" (v. 9) rather than get revenge when someone hurts you?
4. Pause > Pray > Proceed with grace. Which step do you think will be the most challenging for you? Why?

COVID-19 Regulations

• If you’re not feeling well, please wait to attend on campus until you’re fully healthy.
• We have two on-campus Sunday services: 9:30 and 11am (Our 11:00am service is live online on our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel)
• All ages are welcome in the auditorium. We provide kids and middle school ministries at our 11:00am service. High school ministry meets Sundays at 6:00pm on-campus. 
• Facial coverings will be required per the current state health order. We’ll encourage general social distancing by minimizing some common touchpoints, providing hand sanitizer, and offering some increased spacing in seating areas. (During this time, bring your own java…we know it’s a bummer, but it won’t be forever!)
