Be Present, Seize the Opportunity- Not a Nanny

This is week 2 in our parenting series, Not A Nanny. As parents we are not experts at everything, but we also want the best for our children. So we learn to outsource some of their training to the experts. That may work with teachers, tutors, coaches or music lessons, but we can’t make the mistake of outsourcing their spiritual development to anyone else. God didn’t call someone else to teach your child to follow Jesus, He called you. Pastor Chris Williams and our Family Pastor, Laine Meek talk this week about how to disciple our children by being present and seizing every opportunity to know and influence their hearts.

Discussion Questions:

1. Share a funny”parent fail” moment from your own life.
2. What are your biggest obstacles that prevent you from engaging your children in spiritual conversations?
3. Read aloud Deuteronomy 6:7. In your own words, what is the “big idea” of this verse? Do You find this verse discouraging or encouraging? Why?
4. Pastor Laine said we must “be present and seize the opportunity” at the table, in the car, and at bedtime. Which of the three is most natural for you? Which of the three will you try this week?

 Covid-19 Precautions 

1. If you’re not feeling well, please wait to attend on campus until you’re fully healthy.
2. We have two on-campus Sunday services: 9:30 and 11am (Our 11:00am service is live online on our Facebook Page and YouTube Channel)
3. We provide kids ministry (birth – 5th grade) at 9:30am and kids and middle school (6th-8th grade) at our 11:00am service. High school ministry meets Sundays at 6:00pm on-campus.
4. We encourage facial coverings per the current state health order. We are minimizing some common touchpoints, providing hand sanitizer, and offering some increased spacing in seating areas.
