Tuesday of the 20th Week in Ordinary Time (Homily – August 19, 2025)

On August 19, 2025, Tuesday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time, we hear the story of Gideon hiding in the winepress and the Gospel where Jesus warns that it is hard for the rich to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Judges 6; Matthew 19:23–30).

Both passages remind us that God names us “champions” even when we feel small, and that only by kneeling down and letting go of our burdens can we pass through the narrow gate.

“What little the apostles surrender, He turned into a throne.”
