August 29, 2026 – Memorial of the Passion of Saint John the Baptist

Readings: 1 Thessalonians 4:1–8; Mark 6:17–29

Some sins you can hide for a while. But the truth always calls them out and when truth is spoken, someone pays a price. John the Baptist looked Herod in the eye and spoke one clear word of truth. It cost him his life. Saint Paul reminds us: “This is the will of God: your holiness.” We are faced with the same decision: will we pay the cost of holiness, or the cost of sin?
