On the 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time (August 17, 2025), Fr. Korey LaVergne preaches from Jeremiah 38:4–6, Hebrews 12:1–4, and Luke 12:49–53. The prophet Jeremiah was lowered into a muddy cistern by his own people for speaking the truth of God. Jesus tells us He came not to bring comfort, but fire: a fire that purifies, divides, and demands everything. The Eucharist is that fire—Christ’s real presence that changes us forever. “Do you want the fire? Do you want Jesus?”
