What does it really mean to love like Jesus? This question launches us into a transformative exploration of Christ's most profound commandment: "Love one another as I have loved you" (John 13:34).

The timing of Jesus's words couldn't be more significant. He had just finished washing His disciples' feet—the Master becoming the servant—and was mere hours from the ultimate sacrifice on the cross. Yet His focus remained on love. Not superficial affection or occasional kindness, but a revolutionary love that changes both the giver and receiver.

This isn't love as the world understands it. Jesus calls us to something far more challenging: loving when it's inconvenient, when it costs us something, and even when the other person seems undeserving. It means listening before speaking, serving without expectation, forgiving completely, and being present in both celebration and suffering. It's a love that extends grace repeatedly, choosing kindness again and again, not because it's easy but because it reflects the heart of Jesus.

The beautiful paradox is that while this command seems impossibly difficult, we don't face it alone. The same Christ who asks us to love sacrificially empowers us through His Spirit. When we love as Jesus loves, people don't just hear about our faith—they see it lived out in how we treat them. Our relationships become living testimonies of God's transforming power.

As you move through your day, ask God to help you love someone in a new, Christ-like way. Remember that love isn't primarily a feeling but a choice—a powerful, intentional decision that changes everything it touches. How might your relationships transform if you truly began loving others as Christ loves you?
