Are you ready for take-off? I hope so, because today’s key text from Isaiah promises nothing less than renewed strength from God – which will lead to the struggling people of God being lifted up and soaring like a swig and powerful eagle.
It was a message and promise of hope to weary and despondent exhales living in Babylon. They had spent a half of entry living away from their homeland. There were Israelites who felt a deep sense of being abandoned, hopeless, isolated and tired. They felt that there was no way out and no way up. If this great, glorious, and mighty God could carry the whole of Israel (old and young) out of Egypt on eagles’ wings, could He not do the same with the exiles in Babylon? Had the exiles forgotten the incomparable greatness, power, and strength of their faithful God?
I wonder is we forget how infinitely great and above all God’s powers are? I think we do! We forget that His power is so huge and that this God is our God, our loving Shepherd, our Father who is in heaven, and our caring Savior. Some of our biggest problems and anxieties come when we simply forget who God is.
Hope lifts us up! Hope helps us soar! Stretching our wings and trusting the One who knows how we can fly is critical to confidence when we believe we are weak.
