Easter Sunday - Salvation

The fact:  Jesus came and died a cruel death on a cross!  The fact:  Jesus was raised to life 3 days later.  These two facts make the raising of Jesus critical to the people of faith.  Without these two, why meet?  Jesus MUST rise from the dead or this faith thing is useless.    

To cook microwave popcorn usually doesn’t take any longer than 2 to 2.5 minutes.  But it seems like the first minute of waiting is excruciating.  Nothing is happening.  The microwave is making noise; the light is on,; the bag is turning; and the time is counting down —but the opportunity isn’t doing anything.

But what is the one thing that sets your mind at ease?  It’s the sound of the first kernel popping —that one, lone, single pop that brings you hope.  Why?  Because that sound is the first of hundreds of pops that are getting ready to explode, one right after the other for about 30 seconds.  

And when the bag begins to go from flat to raised.  It goes from death to life!  The aroma of life now fills the room and people begin to gather.

This is what happens with Jesus.  Jesus will do something that has never happened before.  Jesus will predict His own death and then does the astounding; he predicts His life rises again!  This is foundational to making the reason for even being here possible.  This foundation sets us apart from every other religion and it’s something we must tell others about!
