On this week's edition of Fabulous Film & Friends I talk with my friend Bob Gitzen about Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1968 sci fi existential meditation 2001: A Space Odyssey. 

Robert “Bob” Gitzen who is a production sound mixer, sci fi lover and all-around deep thinker, in fact he was at one-point a seminarian. Coincidentally, I’ve known Bob since the year 2001 when we worked together on the little seen, much less understood Tilda Swinton sci fi indie, Teknolust.  I had only been in production less than a year at that point, but I was immediately impressed with Bob’s warmth, patience, good humor and clear passion for superlative audio quality. And even then, I had only worked with sound mixers who had maybe one of those qualities, and usually it wasn’t patience or good humor. 

When I asked him to join the podcast I asked him which film he'd like to discuss and he immediately said, "My favorite film, 2001."
