There is a good chance if you get divorced and have children that step-parents will be a part of your future. It's not all bad, but emotions can run high.

We prefer the word bonus-parent instead of step-parent.

We answer many of the common questions that we hear as attorneys about step-parents. If the child is safe most courts are going to encourage building a relationship with their bonus family. Even though emotions about it may run hot, we encourage people to get counseling and focus on co-parenting.
