All people at some point in their lives feel abandoned by God, but Jesus is the only person to actually experience that abandonment. The words he spoke from the cross are a quote from the Old Testament—Psalm 22—and give us insight as to what that felt like. And it’s loaded with prophecy of things that really happened to Jesus on the day he died.
