In 2023, a brutal murder took place in Busan, South Korea. The perpetrator was a young woman who claimed to have drawn inspiration from crime novels. Her story changed several times, but one motive she mentioned was simply "curiosity." Despite her apparent familiarity with crime fiction, she made many foolish mistakes and was caught quickly.
