Forest Today: Call of Joy

We chat with John Winters, co-creator of the “Call of Joy” art installation that debuted at Electric Forest in 2023.

Inside the iconic red phone booth, you’re given the opportunity to share a memory of your own or listen to a message someone before you recorded.

John and his wife Jessica were inspired to create the interactive piece based on research findings that building, storing, and retrieving happy memories can boost feelings of positivity and happiness, and even fight depression.

Their idea became reality as recipients of the Plug In Program’s Art Installation Sponsorship, which provides resources and support to artists of all levels.
