In this episode, Dr. Berry talks about the significance of Black History Month and why it should not be limited to a single month of the year. She emphasizes the importance of infusing Black history and culture throughout the curriculum throughout K-12, as it is a part of American and world history.

Dr. Berry also explores the difference between Black History Month and other ethnic heritage months. She notes that while other months focus on celebrating the heritage of the respective cultures, Black History Month tends to focus on studying past events.

Dr. Berry introduces the concept of "Black Futures Month" which she says is a grassroots trend that's gaining traction. She describes Black Futures Month as a time to consider and celebrate Black history but also to imagine a world in which Black people are free of oppression and marginalization and can truly engage in self-determination.

Dr. Berry challenges listeners to think about ways to expand the scope of focus on Black history and culture beyond the traditional month of February. She urges listeners to consider celebrating Black Heritage, its history and its future throughout the year.

Overall, this episode encourages listeners to think about the importance of not only recognizing Black history but also imagining and working towards a better future for Black people.
