Paul urges the church at Corinth to seek a threefold unity (1 Cor. 1:10-17) without which no church can function effectively. It consists of (1) a doctrinal (didactic) unity, (2) an organic or body-like (somatic) unity, and (3) a unity of mind and judgement (a sophic unity). We consider each in turn and ask how they can be cultivated in a local church.
