Adam Becker recently published More Everything Forever. From the initial blurbs and early reactions, I expected it to be broadly representative of the now familiar leftist critique of Effective Altruism, Rationalism, and adjacent communities: essentially a highly critical summary of what is often referred to as TESCREAL. This expectation has proven accurate.

I’ve been summarizing each chapter carefully while also adding my own commentary along the way. Since Chapter 4 is the main (though not exclusive) section where Becker directly focuses on Effective Altruism itself, I thought it might be particularly relevant to share my notes and reflections on this chapter here.
