#6 – What is Consciousness?

Today’s episode is an exploration of consciousness. What is it exactly? What type of life forms have it? Will AI ever have it? We talk about panpsychism and the idea of smaller consciousnesses creating larger ones. What are brain interfaces and what implications do they have on the idea of consciousness? We throw around a couple physical reductionist ideas for consciousness. Of course we have to cover DMT and psychedelics! Donald Hoffman comes up (again) and his ideas surrounding the topic. We talk about platonic idealism and solipsism. Can consciousness direct evolution? Dean gives us a lesson on how to be a shaman.
