This might sound counterintuitive, but I’ve learned more from my favorite fiction books than from the most informative non-fiction books… 

When I first started learning about real estate, I would read book after book, practically pumping my brain full of information. 

Once I began seeing the same points over and over, I thought, “now what?”

Needing a break from the business books, I picked up “Out of The Silent Planet” by C.S. Lewis and was taken on an adventure to Mars where I was forced to ask myself how I would react to a variety of morally challenging and life-threatening situations. 

While I still read a ton of real estate and non-fiction books, I ended up learning more about my own worldview and the intricacies of human nature than I could ever have from the typical business how-to book, because I was drawn into the story by my emotions and learned deep life lessons from the fantastical tribulations of the characters. 

Rich Fettke shares this same love for the power of stories and has combined it with his love of real estate. 

In episode 39 of Real Estate Milestones, Rich and I discuss the themes of his latest book, The Wise Investor, which is the story of an overworked professional who realizes in order to be fulfilled, he needs to make a change in his life.
