Community interpreting

Community interpreting is mostly consecutive interpreting but may be a blend of simultaneous, whispered, and bilateral. Community interpreting is typically performed at courts, police stations, hospitals and immigration centers. This mode of interpreting require strong interpersonal and inter-cultural skills. Interpreters may be exposed to traumatic circumstances or need to engage with criminal individuals. Community interpreting also requires very high level of confidentiality and therefore community interpreters are often expected to sign an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).
