How Your Nervous System Can Derail Your Life

In this episode I discuss the important role the nervous system has in how we show up in our lives.  And how it can prevent us from making the decisions or taking the actions that allow us to live up to our greatest aspirations and potential.

I learned this so intimately in my own experience with burnout, because I never intended on burning out. I clearly never intended on being an alcoholic. I never intended on being a shopaholic, workaholic, or the slew of other addictions that took me over.  But now that I understand what the nervous system does and how when it's stressed it creates massive dysfunction and dysregulation in the way we think and behave. 

Seriously, having this level of knowledge is going to set you free in so many aspects of your life. 

Science shows us that you can only go as far as your nervous system will let you.  This means we need a new level of respect for the role of the nervous system and particularly the survival mode of the brain. 

I anticipate that disruption and ever-increasing stressors will be the norm for the next several years whiten the places we work, live, and play.  All of this will impact the nervous system if we don't develop a new relationship with ourselves and our inner resources to meet this level of disruption, chaos and change.

I delve into the mind-body connection, the nature of stress, how it impacts our overall health and our ability to make decisions and how it can hold us back from acting in our own best interests.  I also share how you can take your power back in the face of overwhelming uncertainty, chaos and change so you can rise to the occasion and bring your best self to your family, your work, and to the life you want to live.
