I know you–because you’re so much like me– you're interested in your own growth, development, and evolution and so you know that change is a must.
In our quest for change, we often struggle because we think it should be easy. We think we can just decide to change and that it should be done.
We don’t recognize that there’s both the capacity to change and then there’s the ability to change.
Two different things, yet related.
Your capacity to change is determined by the state of your nervous system. Or better said, when you're in a state of chronic stress or experiencing sympathetic activation then you lose your capacity to change. While in an activated stress response you don’t have access to the regions of the brain that allow you to change your thoughts or focus. Additionally, an activated stress response is a huge energy expenditure. You expend and waste an incredible amount of energy when you're in a state of chronic stress. This also reduces your capacity to change.
Your ability to change is determined also by your nervous system state, which is why I’m such an advocate and teacher of nervous system rebalancing as a path to the most effective way to create the change we seek.
Think of capacity as an internal storage and ability as the skill to change.
I teach both.
Listen on to learn how to apply a simple practice to expand both your capacity and ability to change.
This episode is loaded with goodness and you’ll learn the Triple A process for making change work for you!
I share the Triple A as a repeatable process to Acknowledge, Accept, and Allow that gives you tangible tools to shift and build your own capacity and build your own ability to change!
It’s packed with gold—and you’ll soon discover it for yourself.
Please connect with me and share with me how this helped you. And as always–spread the love by sharing this episode with someone who’ll benefit from hearing this! We’re on this journey of life together, my friend!
