And His Name Shall Be Called... Isaiah 9:6-7

"And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."

Isaiah doesn’t mean that the child to be born would literally be addressed by these names during his life on earth any more than he would be addressed by the name Immanuel (cf. 7:14).  Indeed, we never find Jesus addressed by any of these names in the Gospels, nor should we expect to.  What Isaiah means is that the child to be born would be worthy to be called by these names, that these names would be accurate descriptions of his being and character.
