We discuss the city of Tenochtitlan, capital of the Aztec Empire and forerunner to present megalopolis, Mexico City. Founded in the 1300s on an island in Lake Texcoco, the city saw the rise of the Aztecs, the practice of human sacrifice, and their eventual fall at the hands of Hernan Cortes.
