Many women experience economic abuse within the context of intimate partner violence, in fact one in six women in the UK have experienced economic abuse by a current or former partner. Economic abuse will rarely happen in isolation; it normally occurs alongside other forms of domestic abuse which has a direct impact on survivors limiting choices and ability to access safety.
