From an early age Jo had a desire to explore and travel. Having lived and worked in many different places, it is no wonder Jo made the transition from geography teacher to intercultural trainer. In this episode she shares how her journey has impacted the work she does now. We dive into the relationship between intercultural competence and equality, diversity and inclusion and explore how we can all become more culturally competent, even if, as Jo says, “I’ll be dead before I am perfectly and culturally competent.”
KEY TAKEAWAY
“I've grown up in a white skin so I have to appreciate that if I'd grown up in a different colour skin, my experiences would have been very different. I can try to learn about it, but I won't know. You can't just do to people what you want done to you. That's not enough, you have to do what works for them.”
