Kia Ora Whanau. This week Matt flies solo on the main interview and has the privilege to speak to Maree Leith, founder of Go Run Girls. Like many people who start to run, Maree was looking for a change. Unlike many who start to run, Maree’s start came from a place of great sadness and loss. Six years ago, Maree gave birth to a daughter, however this joy was preceded by years of heartache. In the years prior Maree had two stillborn babies and a newborn who passed away at six weeks old. Maree states that after this time and due to the years of absolute devastation and losses she had gained weight and felt that she was lost. Wanting to turn her life around Maree knew the only way to do it was find something truly life-changing, and what she found was running. Maree taught herself to lamp post run and from there on built up to doing her first 6km and the rest was history. Maree is a Personal Trainer, Running coach, Event Reviewer, Interviewer, Pilates instructor, Event owner and Manager, Blogger, Mother, Wife, Ultra runner and Entrepreneur. Maree has turned her blogging about her running journey into Go Run Girls, a collective which helps women (and a few men) find their strength, community, and inspiration through running and each other. As a bonus also in this episode we bring you some audio and a quick interview we got with Shaun Collins on his 200 mile circumnavigation of the Auckland isthmus and all the other usual results, news, and stuff you should know. Enjoy
