Happy Podcast Friday, welcome to Episode 130: The uncomfortableness of accepting help - with my designer Julie Zolman. Have you ever thought about the fact that you might be stealing someone else’s joy if you never accept help? Think about this for a minute before we discuss it in further detail with Julie. Let’s first give you a little background with Julie, she has always been willing to jump in and help others anywhere it is needed. Accepting help, on the other hand, is not easy for her. A desire to stay in control, combined with feelings of guilt and shame have kept her struggling to do everything herself. Learning that she has a belt full of helpful tools at her fingertips has proved invaluable to her and she has finally added accepting help to that toolbelt. She is not only gaining the time and expertise of others, she is also giving them the chance to experience the joy of giving.
Julie wanted to make changes in her lifestyle to help her become healthy and happy. Looking back she can see that as she has used the tools she has learned she has made slow, positive changes. Much of it has become automatic and she doesn’t realize how successful she is. As she learns new skills that make things easier, she can enjoy riding the wave of success. AND isn’t this what we are all striving for… to find areas in our life that we don’t have to fight so hard… that habits can flow and momentum can build if we stick with something long enough… I need to shush and we need to hear Julie’s story! Welcome to Part II - The uncomfortableness of accepting help!
