Minute 104: The Universal Terrorist Playbook

“I got a big problem down here,” says Walt. “Shut it down. Shut it down, now!”

The lights go off at Nakatomi Tower.

“Emergency Lighting Activated,” says an automated voice. McClane’s restroom is now lit by battery-operated lamps. He picks up the walkie talkie.

“Al? Al? Talk to me – what’s going on here?” says John.

“Ask the FBI,” replies Al. “They’ve got the Universal Terrorists’ Playbook, and they’re running it, step-by-step.”

On the security monitor, the Electromagnetic Seal is on, but then the graphic image shows the seal going away.

“It’s gonna go!’ says Theo. “Yes!”  The safe door swings open with buzzing noises and flashing lights. Theo and Hans stare open mouthed as the Ode to Joy plays a triumphant crescendo.

“Merry Christmas!” says Theo, smiling.

Meanwhile, Agents Johnson and Johnson, followed by Robinson, jog down the hillside from Nakatomi Plaza. The FBI agents are laughing. Robinson looks uncertain.

“Those bastards are probably pissing their pants right now!” says Big Johnson.

“The mayor’s going to have my ass!” says Robinson.

Theo leaps toward the vault entrance.
