This discussion happened by pure chance! I truly hope it helps someone out there! Thank you Rachel for joining me and making this possible.Disclaimer: This podcast is simply to share with individuals that there are other options out there in relation to spirituality. My intention is not to bash Catholicism or any other religion. Please note the script is not word for word with the audio. I had a lot of fun with this. Enjoy.
Me: Rachel can you please tell me a little bit about your childhood and give me a general idea?
Rachel: Growing up, I grew up in a Catholic home. My parents were Catholic and we would go to church every Sunday, that was kind of the thing so I was immersed in the Catholic faith until I was about 15 years old because that’s when you make your confirmation with the church. When I was going through confirmation classes, things started to hit me because now I was older and I could really start to understand the scriptures and such. I started to question what I was reading and would bring up those questions and it almost felt like I was being judged. It started to hit me that maybe the Catholic faith isn’t for me because it didn’t resonate with me. After my confirmation, which I did because my parents wanted me to, I started looking into other religions because I knew that there was something else out there for me. I looked into multiple religions such as Wicca, Paganism, Christianity, and older religions that people just don’t practice openly. For me, I couldn’t go down just one path because there were certain things from different religions that would resonate me and other things that wouldn’t from different religions. That is really what started my spiritual journey, going outside the Catholic church and looking into other religions.
Me: That is really interesting. You said your parents made you do your confirmation, how did that make you feel?
Rachel: It was difficult for me because when you are told by the priest, they tell you that you are becoming an adult and part of the church. So you’re making the decision yourself to be a part of the church and I didn’t want to part of it. It felt like the religion was being forced upon me, but honestly, I didn’t know anything else before that because it was what I grew up in. Once I got older and I was around more people and access to the internet. It made it easier to look into other religions. Being around people of different beliefs around the school made it easier for me to kind of find out about other religions as well.
Me: I know that when we talked you had mentioned that you had a spiritual epiphany. Do you mind talking a little bit about that?
Rachel: My spiritual epiphany came after I had my first child, I was 18. I had given birth to her just a few months after turning 19. I was a single mother, working three jobs, and trying to go to school full time. It was hard. Part of it was and I knew it was wrong, but I blamed God for my trials and tribulations. It felt to me that my life was spiraling into this huge pile of mistakes. I was trying to make ends meet and it was really hard. One night I was just in tears and I was like “God, I don’t know if I can do this anymore.” I felt like a horrible parent and I’m not doing something right because all of these bad things just keep happening. I just broke down. I got on my knees and cried and I just prayed. I was like “God, what do I need to do? I’m at my witts end, I don’t know what to do.” I started apologizing for blaming God because I knew was wrong for doing that and was asking what should I do because I was at that point. All of a sudden, I had a feeling of a presence next to me. I felt an extreme warmth like someone was hugging me. All of a sudden I felt this warmth and this white over my heart and just started crying but they were happy tears not sad and then all of a sudden I just knew what I needed to do and it was just the oddest thing. It was like all put in my head like I know what I need to do now. I’m so glad that it happened because I know that was the day that my life changed.
Me: I can definitely relate to you because I found myself in a similar situation. I found myself in my room feeling that everything that I was comfortable with was taken away from me. My relationship with my family was broken, I moved out an hour away to my grandparents and hadn’t even graduated high school yet, so it was really emotionally rough. I have two little sisters so moving away from them was rough. I was in my room crying and feeling that the world around me was on fire and I can’t do anything about it. I was sitting and crying on my bed for a few days until I had my period of mourning and then I was just like “God, I need your help. Please help me. I will do anything, just please help me.” That was the time of my transformation as well. You come to a place that is so low, that you just need to surrender. I feel like that is the moment of transformation.
Rachel: Right. I had hit that low and then when I finally just surrendered to God and asked for him to help me, that’s when everything changed. I’m really blessed and grateful that I did to that in that moment of time instead of going through life doing what I was doing.
Me: How do you feel that this transformation has turned your life around until the present moment now?
Rachel: I mean so much has happened, this was over 14 years ago. A lot happened, I started doing visualization work and manifestation. I set goals for myself in vision boards, I was like, “I got to get my life together, it’s not just about me anymore.” Having to take care of an infant, I had to be more selfless instead of selfish and had to change my outlook on everything. I started doing vision boards as a way to goal set and figure out what I’m going to do with my life and by doing that it helped me so much. Everything that I have put on a dream board so far, I have manifested.
Me: Can you talk a little bit about the process for you of making a vision board?
Rachel: Yeah, I’m a creative person so what I normally do is I get a poster board, use markers and things like that, and what I’ll usually do is I’ll put pictures of physical photos or I’ll print things out on a computer depending on what I’m manifesting. Then I’ll write down under it the goal as if it’s already happened. It’s almost as if it does something to your brain instead of writing it as if this is something that I’m going to try to do. If you write it as if it’s already happened, it pushes you a lot more and motivates you a lot more to do it. What I would do is every day and I mean it can be for 15 minutes if you’re new to meditation, is meditating but also visualizing that. Looking at the dream board, visualizing it, and meditating off of that. You can listen to meditation music or just sounds and that’s what I did. I would mediate off my vision board and close my eyes after looking at a specific goal and that’s how I did it. For me it’s worked, I’ve been doing it for over 14 years. The last thing that I manifested was the house that my husband and I bought. It was the first house that I looked at, I put it on my vision board, and I said “This is the house that I will be living in.” I said that I would be living in this house and it’s the house that we got. It’s insane how it works but it can. You have to work at it but you know this is something that if I’d never started, I wouldn’t be where I am at today.
Me: Yeah definitely. I feel that sometimes or maybe all of the time we need to tell the Universe what is it that we want because the Universe might just not know until we tell it. Like, “Look! This is what I want.” I learned something called The Feeling Is The Secret by an author named Neville Goddard and what he says is that when you feel that you already have it just as you were saying, that in itself is the best form of manifestation because when you’re already on a certain wavelength you’re literally attracting it to you. I totally recommend The Feeling Is The Secret by Neville Goddard for every single person in the world. So, how do you feel that spirituality could help other people?
Rachel: I feel that with spirituality, it can help so many people in so many different ways but I really feel that it can help you when you’re at your lowest of the low. You just don’t know how believing in something bigger than yourself and putting things out there to the Universe or anything that you believe in, just how much your life can turn around. It can take you out of a very dark place and put you back on the path that you need to be on. I also think that it makes you more of a well-rounded person when you have spirituality as something you believe in. It’s so really good for your mindset because it helps you have a more positive outlook on life. A lot of what we go through on a daily basis is affected by mindset, if you have a negative mindset your day is probably going to be really bad because everything is just going to make you mad or irritate you. If you try to have a positive mindset as much as possible, I think spirituality adds to that because it makes you have more of a positive outlook on life. I recommend to people, do your research. If you’re not a spiritual person right now, just find your path and your path might not be the same as everyone’s else’s. That was something that I went through from childhood to adulthood, not knowing what my spiritual path should be because I was raised a certain way but that doesn’t mean that you always have to stay. I think some people don’t realize that because they were brought up a certain way, it’s okay if your spiritual beliefs change. I mean, the way that you thought as a child is not going to be the same way that you think as an adult and you get to interact with so many people of different walks of life and you learn so many things about different cultures that you know, you could eventually change your spiritual path by immersing yourself into other things. I think a lot of people shouldn’t be afraid to let that happen if it does happen in their lives. If you feel, “This current spiritual path isn’t for me” that’s okay. You can change. I think that the whole purpose of our lives is that we are always supposed to level up, we’re not supposed to stay where we are. We’re supposed to always grow and that could mean changing your spiritual beliefs.
Me: I completely agree. I think a really good point to bring up is that spirituality is mostly just concepts and things that we put together for our own selves and what we feel comfortable with. It could be completely different from somebody else’s version of spirituality. I also feel that spirituality could be described as soul food. I feel that in my life, spirituality has just been a tool for my spirit to feel better. It’s not something that I’m imposing on people, it’s just something that is a tool for yourself. Do you have any thoughts on that topic?
Rachel: Yeah and I completely agree with you. I think everybody’s version of spirituality is different and that’s fine. I definitely feel that the main thing is don’t push your beliefs on anyone but we can all share what we think and what we believe and still not impose our beliefs on people. That’s how you learn and grow, you learn from other people, you don’t just have to learn from a book or the internet, something you can learn more stuff just from being around other people and sharing your spiritual beliefs with each other. What works for me, might not work for somebody else and that’s the really cool thing about us all being different. We all find our own tools to bring what we need into our lives and the Universe will help us get to where we need to be, sometimes it’s all in different ways.
Me: I completely agree. I feel that we all have a unique path and that we’re all here to learn. Some may just be at a different frequency than other people already as they were born, so we’re not all here to necessarily learn the same thing but we’re all here to support each other. Do you have any additional messages for anyone who might be listening?
Rachel: I’d say the main thing is to do your research if you’re looking into a different spiritual path. I would recommend that if you are leaving a specific religion and did want to look into other religions, immerse yourself by going to an actual church or finding somebody that is personally part of that religion because they can give you better insight on it than something that you just read on the internet. Sometimes what you find on the internet might not necessarily be not true, but doesn’t go into enough depth that someone who personally experienced it can tell you. I do recommend it because you know, I did that. I went to churches, meetups, there are so many different things but I definitely recommend speaking to someone one on one that is part of a specific spiritual path because you want to fully understand and there are things that the internet or a book can leave out. When I was looking into Wicca, they told me that there is a lot of misinformation on the internet.
Me: Do you have any messages for anyone who might be searching for their passion still?
Rachel: Yeah, I would definitely recommend meditating when it comes to trying to figure out your passion because a lot will come to you in meditation. When I started meditating, it was hard to quiet my mind so what I recommend is even just ten minutes. Try to sit somewhere quiet and to visualize what you want. When I say what you want, I mean without any interference from other people because a lot of people will change their passions based on what other people tell them. I’ve been there many times and you don’t want to do that obviously because it’s about what you want. Your passion is your passion and so you definitely want to zone all of that out and visualize what you personally want in life and when you meditate on it, so many things will come to you. I always recommend having a notebook or journal next to you because when you get out of your mediation, you’re going to have the stuff to write down. Stuff will just hit you right then and there. You want to have that to write it down because it’s amazing how fast these things will come to you right after you’re done with that meditation.
Me: Another thing that I read is that messages can come to you immediately but they can also come to you throughout the day or the week. It’s really good to also have a curious mind so that when things come up and you see them, you wonder, “What is the message behind this?”. A lot of things could be messages from spiritual lightworkers that we don’t even realize, so it’s really good to keep a curious mind.
Rachel: It’s amazing what meditation and just all of that can do for you. I hope that this really does help someone because you know like I said it’s changed my life tremendously.
Me: Yeah definitely, I mean it’s definitely transformed my life. I also hope that this helps people. To anyone listening, thank you for tuning in. I love you so much to the bottom of my heart, my Dearest Lovelies, you are amazing. Thank you so much, Rachel, for joining us.
