Panic Attacks: The Facts out now! on the HEAL blog.
Part Two. In Part One Beck shared the truth of her chaotic childhood. Now, Beck shares her remarkable journey to healing, which included grappling with debilitating blackout panic attacks. Beck's unwavering determination to forge a brighter future for herself and her children is nothing short of inspirational. Beck came to the understanding that she wasn't born with anxiety or panic attacks and therefore, they could not be indicative of her true self. It was this profound realisation that served as her guiding light on the path to recovery, leading her toward wellness and mental stability.
If you only listen to one story this year, make it Beck's. Her resilience and transformation serve as a powerful reminder of the human spirit's capacity to overcome even the most challenging of circumstances.
Beck’s parents split when she was 6 years old and it was agreed that Beck, her mom and siblings would move into her Paternal Grandfather’s home. Instantly, the days of toys, play and having fun were gone. In this house nobody had any rights. There were multiple women and children living in this house and Beck’s life now consisted of school, chores and punishments. When her mother finally left this situation, she moved Beck and her siblings into her Maternal grandparents home. However, the chaos continued. The truth is that Beck had been sexually abused by her Paternal Grandfather and now the Maternal grandfather she loved and trusted, also began to sexually abuse her. This story references the abuse Beck suffered, but we do not go into detail. This is not our focus. We are here to tell Beck’s story. An incredible, resilient and yet highly traumatised little girl who grew into a young woman who decided she would never allow that abuse define her and fought every step of the way to get back to a normal life.
