“Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints.” -Proverbs 2:3
So often in life, we search for wisdom in the wrong places. We watch videos, reels, and Ted Talks. We read books, ask friends, and go to counselors of all sorts. All of these can have merit. But where we start and end our treasure hunts is key to unearthing the wisdom God is standing at the ready to give us in generous portions.
Throughout Scripture, wisdom is equated to a treasure. Romans 11:33a tells us, “Oh the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God…” Colossians 2:3 points us to where the treasure is hidden; “In Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” And James 1 tells us that all we need to do is ask for it.
