Good morning anglers! Here’s your fishing report for Los Angeles as of September 3, 2024. The current time is just after 8 AM.
Today’s tidal report:
- Low tide was at 4:45 AM.
- High tide is expected at 11:18 AM.
- Another low tide will come in at 6:38 PM.
Local weather is comfortable with a current temperature of 68°F, rising to a high of around 78°F in the afternoon. We have mostly clear skies and a gentle breeze blowing at about 5-10 mph from the northwest. Sunrise was at 6:27 AM and sunset will be at 7:15 PM today, giving us a full day of great fishing conditions.
Fish activity has been moderate to high. Yesterday, we saw good numbers of calico bass, yellowtail, and some barracuda. The calico bass were especially active near the kelp beds, and yellowtail were caught chasing smaller baitfish around some of the local reefs.
As for the best lures, it looks like swimbaits and crankbaits are getting the job done for bass and yellowtail. For bait, sardines and anchovies are proving to be quite effective, especially if you’re targeting the yellowtail.
For hot spots, I recommend checking out the breakwaters at Long Beach and San Pedro; these areas have been productive. Another reliable spot is along the rocky points near Point Dume.
So get out there and enjoy the beautiful day on the water. Tight lines and good luck!
