LA Fishing Forecast: Bluefin, Corbina, and Stripers Biting Strong Amid Ideal Conditions

### Weather and Tides

### Fish Activity
Yesterday saw some excellent catches in the Los Angeles waters. The Freedom out of 22nd Street Landing returned from a 1.5-day trip with 47 bluefin tuna, along with plenty of rockfish.

For surf fishing, the South Bay area from Santa Monica to Palos Verdes is hot, with corbina, yellowfin, halibut, and striped bass being caught. Corbina are biting well along the entire stretch, particularly in the Hermosa and Manhattan Beach areas. Stripers are also being hooked in the Venice, Balona Creek, and Dockweiler areas, mostly on cut anchovy and hardbaits.

### Best Lures and Bait
For bluefin tuna, small circle hooks and the right bait can make all the difference. Anglers have had success with bluefin using these hooks, especially when the fish are plentiful and active.

In the surf, hardbaits like BattleStar and Lucky Craft are working well for halibut, especially when following grunion runs. Sand crabs, worms, and mussel are also effective for perch, leopard sharks, and other surf fish. For striped bass, cut anchovy and hardbaits are the go-to choices.

### Hot Spots
- **22nd Street Landing**: This is a prime spot for offshore fishing, with boats like the Freedom and Native Sun reporting excellent catches of bluefin tuna, rockfish, and other species.
- **Santa Monica to Palos Verdes**: For surf fishing, this stretch is currently producing a variety of fish including corbina, halibut, and striped bass.
- **Goleta Beach and East Beach Bath House**: These areas are known for good halibut bites, especially when grunion are present.
