Good morning, anglers! Today's date is September 12, 2024, and here’s your fishing report for the Los Angeles area.

First up, the tidal report. Low tide came in early this morning at 3:55 AM, and high tide will peak at 10:48 AM. Another low tide follows at 5:32 PM, wrapping up with a high tide at 11:45 PM. With these tides, we’re expecting lively conditions on the water.

Today's weather is shaping up nicely for fishing, with partly cloudy skies and temperatures hovering around 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. Winds will be mild, blowing at about 5 to 10 mph from the west. Sunrise was at 6:33 AM, perfect for the early birds, and sunset will be at 7:02 PM.

Yesterday saw some pretty solid fishing across various hotspots. Anglers reported good action off the Santa Monica Pier where a mix of halibut, calico bass, and mackerel were pulled in. Pacific barracuda showed up in decent numbers around the Redondo Beach Pier. Closer to the Malibu coast, rockfish and a few impressive white sea bass made their appearance.

For lures, metallic jigs and soft plastics were the stars of the show yesterday, particularly in shad or anchovy patterns. Anglers using swimbaits reported good success rates as well. When it comes to bait, live sardines and anchovies yielded impressive catches, particularly for targeting halibut and sea bass.

For those looking for a couple of hotspots, try heading over to the Venice Pier. It's been buzzing with activity and producing a variety of species. Alternatively, Marina del Rey’s jetty has been productive, especially during high tide.

Good luck out there—tight lines!
