1. Tragedy in Minneapolis. Kids marking the new school year were killed in their church. An 8-year-old and 10-year-old are dead. 17 others are hurt, 14 of those are kids. The shooter took his own life. CBS news is now reporting the shooter was 23-year-old Robin Westman from suburban Minneapolis. It's not known yet whether he has a connection to the school or church.
2. A massive tariff hike on goods from India. President Trump is doubling the tax on imports from India to 50-percent to punish the country for buying Russian oil. United States Imports from India exceeded $91 Billion dollars in 2024, according to the United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. Electronic equipment and pharmaceutical products lead the way combining for over 26 billion dollars' worth of imported goods, precious stones, metals and coins exceeding 11 billion dollars. In terms of goods imported to the United States, India ranks 9th on the list behind Mexico, China, Canada, Germany, Japan, Vietnam, South Korea and Ireland.
3. A St. Louis man was just convicted in a Kohl's Cash Scam! Investigators say 35-year-old Marshall Lampkin devised a scheme to use Kohl's Cash twice. First, he would use it to buy things in the store. Then, he would immediately use the same Kohl's cash to order merchandise online, knowing that the in-person transaction hadn't registered yet. Lampkin then returned the items he bought in the store for a refund in Kohl's Cash, so he could repeat the scam. Investigators say Lampkin used the scheme more than 100 times at 40 different stores in 13 states, ultimately stealing more than 200-thousand dollars in online merchandise. He was selling the items on Facebook. The jury found this guy guilty in just seven minutes.
