Giant Oyster Shell Community Art Project in Alabama | Roadside America

Today we are driving through Alabama and we found these Oyster Shell Community Art Project sculptures while we were at the welcome center. These are fun depictions of historical events painted onto these huge oyster shells. It is fun to see how many of them we can recognize, and what we can learn from them as well. Apparently there are a bunch of these all throughout the state. Mobile had artists illustrate otherwise identical oyster shell sculptures as part of a 2013 community art project. They are oversized oyster shell depicting famous Alabama culture.
