CWT #95: Mad World by Tears For Fears [song origins + my thoughts]

Even though I often focus on hard rock, punk, and metal here, and some old-timey stuff, I like to occasionally prove I don't hate all softer music. In this case, I'm going to look at Mad World, a classic, goth-tinged, new wavy 1980s synth-pop track by Tears For Fears...

[NOTE: There's a part here where I say "Even though I didn't experience the most abuse one could imagine," but, for whatever reason, the recording makes it sound like I said, "Even though I DID experience the most abuse one could imagine." Not sure if that was me misspeaking or a quirk in the recording, but I figured I'd clarify what I actually intended to say.
