What is the difference between having a good life and a great life?  Well, there are many reasons, but this past week I noticed that I was tolerating things.  If you have a pebble in your shoe, it hurts and so immediately you take it out.  But are there things that bother you just a little and so you tolerate them?  I know I do.

In this episode, I realized that there are many little things that bother me, but not necessarily enough to look for better options.  At work, I was doing something that bothered my boss and she didn’t tolerate it. In fact, she asked me about the situation, helped me change it and it made my life so much better.  Since then, I’ve been asking myself, am I tolerating this? Can it be any better?

And then magic happened!  I was at an event and when I went to pay for parking, the system said I owed $45 for two hours.  For a split second, I thought about paying for it because to fix it, I had to take the elevator, find the office, and relay my story. So, I was being lazy, but instead I decided not to tolerate it.  I took the elevator, found the office, talked to the customer service rep, waited for a response and got free parking!

Questioning whether I’m tolerating things encouraged me to start a Power of 8 Circle with my friend Grace.  Will tell you more about it in the next episode, but I’m excited for the possibilities!

Takeaways:

  • We all want a great life, are there any things in your life that you are tolerating and may be leading to good instead of great?
  • When we experience pain or significant discomfort, we immediately do something to alleviate the pain, but frequently we may tolerate the little things that bother, but not enough to do something about it.
  • Ask yourself if there is anything that you are tolerating.  Is there anything that could be better? And if the answer is yes, do something to change and go from good to better to great.  It’s worth it!
