Everyone knows that a solid building starts with a solid foundation. The same is true about a person. A joyful, productive adult who loves herself and contributes to the well-being of others, stems from a solid emotional foundation.
As children, some of us were surrounded by people who showered us with unconditional love. They protected and encouraged us and provided great models for how to respond and navigate in the world. For others, childhood was full of harsh judgements, conditional love and emotional trauma.
Simply, your childhood experiences and interactions with others create the emotional foundation of how you perceive yourself, the world around you and how you fit into it.
Instead of concrete or rocks, your emotional foundation is built out of core beliefs formed from your early interpretations of other’s opinions about you, what was safe and what was dangerous.
The great news is your emotional foundation can be healed and strengthened.
But just like repairing a building’s foundation requires an array of specialized tools, so does healing your emotional foundation.
To introduce others to the necessary tools as well as how to use them, Vicki created a four-week teleseries called Embracing the 7 Essentials for Adults. Check out the overview.
