512 Look Beyond the Surface

At times in our lives, we feel insignificant. No matter how hard you try, you never seem to make the cut. Look beyond the surface.

The thoughts that flood your mind...condemning thoughts. I'm not enough thoughts. What was I thinking thoughts.

You may think... I've messed up. I have blown it. I have failed! I'm all washed up. Look beyond the surface.

As I sat in front of my computer trying to conquer a programming problem, with no luck and still struggling, all I could do was shout out in frustration, "I quit! I'm not cut out for this."

A gentle tap on my shoulder and the spoken words, "You're not a failure. You're a champion. You can do this!"

It totally caught me off guard. Look beyond the surface.

You see, my son was in the room as my frustration and disappointment in myself became very vocal. 

God sees you as my son saw me. Look beyond the surface.

"The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7 NIV

When your own thoughts attempt to convince you that you don't measure up, think again. God sees your heart. He sees beyond the mistakes, beyond what others say about you.

He sees a woman under construction with incredible worthiness. He sees a woman with love and devotion trying her best every day. He sees what you are becoming...Your best selfie!

Take up your cross today. Begin renewing your mind of how precious you are.

... and believe the potential God has placed within you.
