Our children watch to see what we treasure. There they measure what our heart shows as treasure.
As we drove up today to pick up my son's cap and gown, pictures were made of each of the students. This is a large school, so there were a lot of pictures.
Driving through the high school campus, you could see what the school treasured, the students.
The hope of the future is in the hands of these children. And this is where the staff and community poured their hearts into.
What do you treasure when it comes to your child?
Because you measure what you treasure.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Measure what you want to treasure! "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." ~ Matthew 6:21And for some children, the only thing they see that their parents treasure is how they measure.
- How do you measure your child? Is it by his grades? Her accomplishments? Or is it by his/her heart?
- What are you telling your child by how you measure? Are you painting the picture that they are only worth based on how they can perform? Or do you value them for their heart?
- What do you want to treasure that you should measure? Is it their heart and seeing them for who that are and not what they do.
Feeling loved and wanted is a human desire of us all. But when it comes to our children and raising the next generation, we must open our hearts so they can see what we treasure are their hearts too.
Don't let the value and worth of your child be defined by their actions and doings.
Get to know your child's heart, and they too will know yours.
