  • more parties
  • more commitments
  • more committees
  • more decorating
  • more wrapping

The more you're doing makes you feel wanted and needed, maybe even happier at least for 2 1/2 seconds after saying "yes".

Yet then when the day arrives with the hectic schedule, all you do is worry about getting it all done.

How does any of this make sense?

Stress clogs our wellness! Stress causes the body to lose its ability to regulate inflammation. And what happens with continued, chronic stress? The cells become insensitive to cortisol and inflammation goes unchecked.

Reducing stress in your life opens up your heart to the meaning of holidays and celebrations. It's no longer the "duties" that bring worry.

Whittle down your worry by ....

  1. Avoid it. (Just say NO! This is a way to eliminate the stressor.)
    • Avoid the person/people that stress you out.
    • Don't go to the event.
    • Control what you can.
  2. Alter it. (Change how you interact with the stressor.)
    • Use different words to communicate.
    • Change your holi-daily life.
    • Compromise.
    • Manage time better.
    • Speak up how you feel.
  3. Adapt to it. (See it from a different perspective.)
    • Release your control.
    • Change up your perceived expectations. Stop having them.
    • Reframe the problem.
    • Look at the bigger picture.
    • Love them where they're at.
  4. Accept what it is. (Let it go. Some stressors can't be changed.)
    • Stop fussing over what you can't change.
    • Look for the positive.
