One thing we get backwards is waiting for opportunity to knock. Don't wait for opportunity to knock. Go knock on opportunity!

Don't let the doors of possibilities close just because you are waiting; waiting on someone else or the perfect timing. Or thinking that you can't ask. You run your race.

And in your race, you may need to take some pit stops to understand your position.

• Take a break from what you are doing so you can see clearly where you need to go.
• Focus on ONE thing instead of a multitude of must dos.

You know exactly where you need to stop and smell the roses.

You may also experience pitfalls that will make you stronger. Create your now even when you feel like you're drowning in messes.

• Knock on what's around the corner even if it means a big fat NO.
• Jump up faster than when you fell. Recovery is key.

And let's not forget self-pity. Success is easier to accept than failure. Yet you know failure will occur. Pity only slows you down from what you really want.

• Give yourself a few minutes up to a day to feel the disappointment, sadness, or regret.
• Quickly escape the pity quicksand by grabbing on to the truth. The truth that doesn't fade regardless of the day, circumstances, or struggles.

You were created on purpose for a purpose. By waiting for the perfect time and not seizing the day holds back what God has been preparing for you.

Yes, there are times that you must step back. But most of the time, it's easier to refrain from taking the initiative because that's where you're most comfortable --- and that includes the ones who say they are go-getters. Even they hesitate.

Drop the excuses. Knock on opportunity!

Expect the unexpected so you won't be disappointed with the outcome.
