My daughter graduated this weekend. And I wasn't really sure how I would feel. Lots of emotions for sure. Some I'm still wrestling with.
However, as we were making the 12 hours trek up north, I never really imagined what it would be like to have a daughter graduate from college. My first concern was given birth to a healthy child, later known to us a Keilyn.
Who would have thought that everything I did would lead up to this moment. Yet the journey is far from over. In fact, it's just beginning.
But oddly enough, some live to a certain point in their life and call it quits.
YES!! I've arrived. But do we really ever arrive?
It depends on whether you are looking at it from the earthly lens or the heavenly lens.
My daughter's journey has not been an easy one with every perfect step. Some choices were not good; others were fantastic.
But one thing we tried to instill within her, and all our children, is to listen to their hearts. Those tugs and pulls we feel are not something to toss to the side.
It's not something to runaway from because you are scared. It's not something to make excuses because you don't know each step you are going to have to take.
We want a power in our lives that gives us everything we want.
"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." ~ 2 Peter 1:3Did you ever think that the tug from the heart is a message from God? A nudge in one direction or another.
The K.I.S.S. ~ Listen to the tug from the heart!A mom who has raised one daughter from birth through college graduation should feel like she's accomplished a major mission in life.
But really, my accomplishment is not in her accomplishments. My joy is found in her knowing HER HEART and listening to the tug from the heart.
I don't and won't have all the answers for her. But God will never lead her astray, just as God will not lead you astray.
You must be willing to listen. Listen to those subtle cues. Be watchful and look for God winks.
Nothing is more satisfying than knowing that you are living out God's design for your life.
So today's the beginning of an incredible journey. Get ready to lock in your GPS system with God, the tug from the heart.
